God Bless our Veterans

God Bless America, Land that I love.

Stand beside her, and guide her

Thru the night with a light from above.

From the mountains, to the prairies,

To the oceans, white with foam,

God bless America,

My home sweet home....

My home sweet home.

Dad-A-Rooooooo!

Ha-woo everyone!
If woo are on fb, woo probably heard... Dad a-roo is home!
He has a brand-new knee, but it takes a while to break it in,
so he'll be home for several weeks.

That's good news fur us, cause Dad is furry generous sharing his food!
Here we are getting some nibbles of mom's chicken soup...
 Yumm, tasty!
And, to follow up on Moos birthday,  we each got a whole lamb chop fur dinner!
More big yums!
~~~~
I couldn't figure out what mom was cooking, I sniffed and sniffed and sniffed.   Mom said I had a very "predatory" stance while I sniffed... whatever.  Wow, who knew lambies were so tasty!  We'll have to make furiends with a couple Border Collies who can keep a supply of those sheepie things rounded up fur us!    There's a bunch of them just up the road....
Moo's other Birthday surprise is a brand new never before chewed Nylabone - these are about the only things she doesn't destroy in seconds....  Mom hasn't got a picture yet, but we'll post one soon.
In the meanwhile, enjoy some pics of flowering stuff around our yard...
A-roos to yous,
Jack a-roo
Happy Birthday Moo!
HAPPY
BIRTHDAY
TO OUR
SWEET LITTLE MOO!
7 YRS OLD TODAY!
Ha-roo everyone!
Things have been both hectic & stressful for mom this past week.  (Dad's surgery, hospital & rehab stuff, plus new job training).  No time for blogging, not even a Monday View from the Moo, but we furgive her.
The good news is that Dad's coming home tomorrow!  Woo-hoo!   We're planning a nice Siberian-style "Welcome Home" (minus any smack-downs, of course) with lots of wooing & rooing, and maybe some outdoor zoomies for entertainment!
And the other news is that its my birthday today, woo-hoo fur me!  Now Jack & I are both 7 yrs old! Mom gave us big chunky treat bones, and Jack tells me there'll be another surprise later.
See woo soon!
Miss Moo
PS from Mom:  ... And Happy Birthday to our oldest son, Dan, too!
Tuesday Review: the View from the Moo
Good Tuesday, everyone!
You probably noticed that mom hasn't been posting much to our blog lately.... well, she's had her paws full!    Besides the new job thingy,  painting classes, and  the other job thingy...
(mom designed & taught this Owl Family as a Kids class for Mother's Day)
  And then, there's DAD.
He's been working around here like a terrier on caffene for the past several weeks.   But he hasn't taken us fur walkies fur a long long time...just plays games on his 'puter after he works....Weird!
The peeps were up at the break of dawn today, around 5 am.   They left the house at 6, and then mom came home a couple hours later.  Alone.  Without Dad....
She said he went to meet  Sir Jury and he won't be around fur a bit.   He's a guest at the Hospitable House.
I want to know just who this Sir Jury is and why he's keeping Dad at the Hosiptable House.   It sounds friendly and all, but....
****phone rings*****
Mom talks.....
Mom is all smiles now and said dad & Sir Jury got along very well.   She's going to go see him soon, but we can't come.   Apawrently they don't allow dogs, not even Sibes, in the Hospitable House.
Mom says Dad got a whole new knee and when he comes home (after his "staycation") our job will be to help him heal by taking him on walkies!  Wooo-hoo!
We're keeping our paws crossed he feels better real soon!  It's only been a half a day, but we miss him!
And that's this weeks View from the Moo!
Toodle woo!
Monday's View from the Moo: Park pics
Happy Moo-nday, dear friends!
Are woo ready fur this week's View from the Moo?
Here we go!
Mom took us to the Windmill Park, one of our favorite places!
We explored the woods across the little bridge - so many smells!
I pawsed to check out something in the water on our way back...
It was beawootiful there this week!
The flowering trees are a bit past prime, but still lovely.
Here's a shot of the windmill framed by apple blossoms...
....this apple tree, to be exact.   These trees must be furry old, there trunks
are all gnarly & twisty...
which makes them furry interesting!
The primitive gardens are looking cleaned up and ready to plant--
and the row of flowers beside the fence are looking quite pretty.
The restoration crews have been busy - one of the buildings is covered in new shingles.
And Jack is inspecting the fresh layers of clam shells they use for drainage.
Mom likes how it looks - she says its way cooler than plain ole' gravel.
It does make a nice crunchy sound when woo walk on it.
Here's the herb garden -
first they dig down a good 8 inches or so, then fill in the trenches with
crushed clam shells.    The herbs are coming in nicely, and so pretty!
 I inspected it all the way around, I love how fresh the herb garden smells!
Woo!  Purple!  My favorite color!
This little biped came running over to greet us when we first got to the park.
He & his daddy were fishing... and look at this fish he caught as
we were getting ready to leave!
Woo-hoo!  Woozers, was he excited!
(Don't worry, his dad threw it back in)
Its always so peaceful at the park.  We love it cause mom lets us sniff our way
slowly around, no big push to power-walk!  And that's great with us -
cause woo never know what's new to sniff till woo fiind it!
And that's today's View from the Moo!
Toodle-woo!
Sunday somewhere between Paradise & Purgatory
We're just hanging around today having fun...
its like paradise to play in the sun in our own yard
with mom & dad home too!
This might be a good time to address an issue on fb-
For some reason, facebook keeps insisting we live in "Purgatory"...
and (while that may well be true),  perhaps its referring to the local street
called Purgatory... which leads us to some interesting
local history....
Mom's always loved this intersection - pretty cool with the steeple of
St. Georges (private school)  in the background, isn't it?
We cross it when we go to Sachuest beach.
And right around the corner is "Purgatory Chasm".
  We went walking there with Mom... and believe us, it is much more dramatic when woo
stand on the bridge directly above it!    Its DEEP, and those cliffs go straight down!
(mom put it in big so woo get the effect)
Mom found two legends about it:
"It is said that in the 1500-1600s, a young Native American was chasing a young woman,
perhaps the unrequited object of his affections, and as they reached Purgatory Chasm,
she leapt across safely but he did not and fell to his death. Some say his ghost is trapped
there, searching for the woman and chasing visitors through the wooded trails there…"
another account:
"In this legend, an Indian woman murdered a white man near Wickford. Just as she
attempts to escape, a stern-looking English gentleman appears, asking if she will
walk with him for a short distance. She balks, but cannot escape before he seizes
her by the arm. As she cries out for Hobomoko to save her, her attacker reveals,
"I'm Hobomoko." Then, dropping his disguise, the devil grabs her by the waist,
stamps the ground fiercely once or twice, and flies with her to Purgatory Chasm,
plunging her into its turbulent waters. "
Woo, both are kinda scary!   Hope woo are having fun this weekend too!
A-roos  to yous & Toodle-woo!
