Happy New Year

We're spending the first day of 2011 just like every other day, just doing what Siberians do. Life is simple that way. No resolutions, no promises, no remorse. I think we dogs & cats do the whole Zen thing of just "being" much better than humans do. Its a lesson we hope will rub off on them. So, in the spirit of the whole New Year's Day resolution thing, we offer ours as an example to our human friends of how really simple it is:

We vow to just "be" that which we are, in 2011. To take each day as it comes, not to linger in the past or wish away today in anticipation of tomorrow. We vow to savor the moment, whether it be spent snoozing, playing, or working. We vow to stop & smell the roses and whatever else crosses our path, as everything is interesting. We vow to spend time in the presence of those we love, no matter how hectic things get. We vow to never forget a kindness, and to never hold a grudge over what has passed, as forgiveness is the key to living in peace. We are here for such a short time, (as so many of our owners lament), so let each precious moment be spent in celebration of the wonder of life, as this too shall pass.

We cherish the friendships we've made in 2010, and look forward to spending the next year weaving that web of friendship thru cyberspace, from one end of the world to the other.

Happy New Year, dear friends!

places we didn't get to go

Our boy has safely returned home, abut we sure enjoyed his visit! especially the treat part - he's a furry good treater.
Jack is happy he like the hoodie we gave him. Wanted to make sure he stayed warm outside so we could all play in the foot of snow we got on Dec. 26th!
Our bipeds took him lots of interesting place, none of which we got to go along for. Here's a couple pics of them enjoying themselves without huskies. (Can woo imagine that?)

They all enjoyed a New England tradition- Fish N' Chips- with a nice seasonal addition to the cole slaw - cranberries! Mom says it was de-lish! Oh, she also says if woo are ever in Newport, the GasLight Grill has THE BEST fish n'chips in town!
They stopped by the Redwood Library, the oldest lending library in the country that is still operating as a library. We heard it was furry interesting, although we prefer to nibble on books rather than read them.
(pic source: http://www.wunderground.com -- Dec 27, 2010 Redwood Library on Bellevue Avenue circa 1747.
The Redwood Library and Athenæum is the oldest lending library in America,
and the oldest library building in continuous use in the country.)

They stopped by this Stone tower - no one knows fur sure who built it or for what. There's a local legend it was built by Norse seamen long before Columbus landed in the New World. Other people speculate it was part of a windmill or storage tower. Mom says there were two men with gigantic cameras having a discussion on its geometry and what it could have been whileh she was taking taking pictures.

They also took our boy to his favorite place to eat in all of Newport- - the world famous Brick Alley. Its a must-do when woo visit, too. Practically everyone who visits here goes there at least once.
We took a nice long walk with mom & our boy before he headed off to the airport. We hope he comes back again soon!

He left us a BIG box....
We were really good & didn't open it till mom helped...
Woosers! Its a big box of Happy Hearts cookies!
Yummy! Sweet potato, bacon & cheddar, three cheese....
and these two special big cookies:
Our boy is visiting, so we sat nicely while he tempted us...
Jack ran off with his...
but Moo ate hers on the spot!
MMMMMM!
After all those cookies (the bipeds ate cookies too), what could be better than being rocked to sleep?
Cookie coma!
Remember we asked Santa Paws fur snow? Well, its coming down right now! We think a trip outside is in order,

Wed Woos: The 12 days of Christmas...Siberian Style

The following lyrics are based (loosely) on actual events of the past year:
On the First Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Second Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Third Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Fourth Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Fifth Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
five cold dead moles....
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Sixth Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
six screaming squirrels,
five cold dead moles....
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
seven destuffed squeakies,
six screaming squirrels,
five cold dead moles....
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Eighth Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
eight paws a-digging,
seven destuffed squeakies,
six screaming squirrels,
five cold dead moles....
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Ninth Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
nine fresh new holes dug,
eight paws a-digging,
seven destuffed squeakies,
six screaming squirrels,
five cold dead moles....
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Tenth Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
ten rabbits leaping,
nine fresh new holes dug,
eight paws a-digging,
seven destuffed squeakies,
six screaming squirrels,
five cold dead moles....
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
eleven wooers wooing,
ten rabbits leaping
nine fresh new holes dug,
eight paws a-digging,
seven destuffed squeakies,
six screaming squirrels,
five cold dead moles....
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas,
my two Sibes gave to me,
twelve chewed-up kleenex,
eleven wooers wooing,
ten rabbits leaping
nine fresh new holes dug,
eight paws a-digging,
seven destuffed squeakies,
six screaming squirrels,
five cold dead moles....
four angry crows,
three chewed pens,
two baby birds,
and the bark that they stripped from the tree.

SNOW!

Mom loaded us into the car yesterday morning.
We thought we were headed somewhere fun!
Going...
going...
...gone!
Woo know what happened in between these going & gone pics?
B-A-T-H-S!
We were exhausted from the near drowning.
But woos oh woos, aren't we sparkly clean!
Apparently we smell better too, at least to the bipeds.

(and mom says "just look at those pretty feetie-feets...
all trimmed up & no more dagger claws!")
OK, we did have fun. we went to Moo's kennel and her MamaJohanna groomed us.
We got to pass out christmas kisses to all our biped pals there.
We found something else there too-
Look closely at this "smiley face" and you'll see eight coal-black puppies. Do woo think Santa will delivere them to children who deserve a lump of coal? No way! They'd have to be furry furry good children to get one of these precious labbie pups!
Best of all, on the way home, it started to snow. We only got a little, but it's SNOW! since we were "'damp", we had to wait till this morning to go out to play. Mmmmm, nothing like snacking on fresh snow - so tasty!

Lots of stuff happening around here this week- Stay tuned!

*SPECIAL EDIT* Monday's View from the Moo: HULA MOO!

****JUST IN...... Please check out Mom's interview
over at Coffee with a Canine - just published!****

Woos, efurryone! Exciting news:
Woo can click on the link and read my qualifications.
What? Woo don't know what HULA is? It's a world-wide organization of Huskies (and a few honorary huskies who aren't really huskies at all), under the command of the beawootiful and powerful

"HULA stands for the Husky United Liberation Army. Although starting out as a "huskies only" group, we've found that all breeds of dogs (and cats) have the potential to help our cause, and are (if qualified) allowed to join the HULA Hoop.

HULA's mission is to slowly and covertly drive humans insane. Once all humans have been driven to the brink of insanity, we will then take over the world, where I will assume the position of Queen of the Earth."

I'm furry excited to be part of this great organization. Jack is a member, as was Star. Here's Star with her HULA bumper sticker- perfect addition to our Siberian Outback: As woo can see, Star kept a cool calm exterior to disguise the fact that she was a HULA operative who was plotting world dominance...

I'm sure that wherever she is North of the Rainbow Bridge, she's still working behind the scenes to insure that huskies WILL someday rule the world. What a great day that will be!
And that's this week's View from the Moo...

In the Holiday Spirit

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
without snow, its not delightful.
and we've really no where to go,
wish it'd snow,
wish it'd snow,
wish it'd snow...

If my brofur don't leave me alone.....
how he'll hate to get caught on his own.

and if he sees my teefies barred,
all the way home he'll be scared!
Doesn't this put woo in the Holiday spirit???

More sad news : (

I got a call around noon on Thursday with heartbreaking news.

My SIL's boxer, Petunia, died suddenly Thursday morning. She didn't show any signs of being in distress other than being a little lethargic Wednesday evening, until she became violently ill in the wee hours of the morning. She crossed the Bridge while her mama Cindy was getting ready to take her to the vets. We are so sorry to loose precious Petunia, our hearts go out to Cindy and Petunia's boxer sis Brandi and kitty bro Mokie. There just aren't words to express our heartfelt sorrow over this sadness.

Safe journey, little one.
Petunia and her sisfur Brandi
We trust that Petunia is in the loving arms of Ray, (Cindys husband/JoJoe's brother) and with Max, and the other family boxers who were waiting for her at the Bridge.

To Phred, a cherished friend...Godspeed

Jon "Phred" M. , Retired Cheif Fire Guy, with his pups, Cinder & Smoke

Yesterday there was a mob scene at the Rainbow Bridge. One of furkind's most beloved friends arrived at the gate on "God's Silver Kloud", our dear friend Jon, fondly know as "Phred". There were tails wagging, excited yipping & yapping, and many many licks placed on his ole' face fur sure!

"Phred rescued me!" says Bowser, the little husky mix. "Me too!" chimes in another, and another, and another. "Phred planted a tree in my honor!" "Oh yes, there are many trees" cried several more pups. "And a bench, and a shelter" "Phred calls my people & checks in on them", and "Phred's Prayer Pups prayed fur every one of us at one time or another."

Everyone who knows him, whether through real or virtual means, will miss his kindness, his compassion, and his special brand of humor. Phred had a heart of gold, there are hundreds of stories from folks about how he helped them, generously sharing his wisdom, wit, and wealth, when they were most needed. And nobody can tell a story from a pups' point of view like Phred.

Star, Sherman, my husband JoJoe and I had the pleasure of spending time with Phred at the many picnics he organized for our on-line group of pet owners. People came literally from across the country to these picnics, all of us brought together by our love for our pets, and Phred's amazing ability to make it all happen.

Have a safe journey, dear friend, we'll try & keep things runnin' on this ole' dirtball, but it wont be the same without you. Thanks for everything you've done. Gonna miss our talks. Please keep watch over all our furkids up there, till we all gather again for another picnic in God's big beautiful dog park over the Rainbow Bridge. We love ya!

Friday Foto

Friday foto of a frog & a fluffy dog:
Can woo tell the frog has a little box strapped to him... like in old movies when "cigarette girls" sold cigarettes in nightclubs... (or so we're told). sometimes mom surprises us & puts dog biscuits in the tray. But not today.

There is nothing going on around here. Mom is furry busy with biped stuff this week, so we don't have much to report. Maybe things will pick up over the weekend....
