Happy Birthday Dad!

We are wooing a furry
Happy Birthday to our Dad today!
We think our dad is a pawsome Paw. He takes us lots of interesting places

and hands out lots of treats!

Yup, we like him!

We understand woo & humom are going to dinner tonight to celebrate...we expect leftovers so we can celebrate too! (**It will earn woo play time with Star's Wiggly Giggly!)

Birthday Woos & a-roos,
Star & Jack a-roo

Ice is nice

Woos & a-rooos to yous,
Our snow went from fluffy:

to flat....and I mean
really flat:

in only a few hours!

What a storm! This is what happens when woo have several inches of new snow followed by several hours of slushy rain.

But ice is nice, at least twice as nice as no ice!

Ice is also furry slick under your feety-feets, so be careful if woo have to walk on it, especially if woo are a clumsy biped.

Woos & a-roos,
Star and Jack a-roo

Picture tag!

Our friend Huffle tagged us to play the photo folder game:
Open a document or file folder,
click on the fifth folder
and then the fifth photo.
Post the photo and describe it.
Then tag 5 other bloggers.

Mom went to the "non-canine" photo folders for this one. This is from last summer, she & dad went to a Mozart concert held in Ochre Court, one of Newport's spectacular mansions:

This is looking up to the landing from the entrance hall. It was built in 1888-92 by Richard Morris Hunt for Gilded Age banker Ogden Goelet, as his "summer cottage". ("Cottage" must have had a different meaning back then!) I wonder if any huskies lived in that house? Mom said she didn't see any fluff lying about, but I'll bet they even have maids for the dogs in that house!

This place was so spectacular, we have to show you more than one pic. Here's another view, looking up at the ceiling. Wow!

and one last one, Dad checking out just ONE of the fireplaces!
We tag:
Cosi & Juneau in Pawsylvania
Our favorite Pirate, Capt. Maverick
Our friends Nebo, Keva, & Skya over in scenic Utah
Gorgeous Prince, Summer and Sesuk of Team Husky
and the cutest thing in the Yukon, our friend Tehya the babydog
Show us those pictures!

Mom says this week look furry busy, we may not be able to get our paws on the keyboard for a while, so have a furry nice week & we'll woo back again soon.

Star & Jack a-roo

Birthday Report

Wooos everyone, and thank woo for all the nice Birthday wishes, mom read them all to me. I had a wonderful day, humom & dad took me to Petco so I could pick out my won toy & treats. First I made them walk up & down effurry isle. A nice lady and her son started asking questions about Siberian huskies, so Jack & I got to be a Good Ambassadors and help educate more potential husky owners. After answering their questions (are they friendly? are they aggressive? what's this 'prey drive'? is it true they shed a lot? are they destructive if left inside? why cant they be off leash? will an electric fence keep them in?....) humom looked at dad & said "You know, after answering all those question, you gotta wonder why anyone wants a Siberian husky!" Good think we know she's kidding, or we'd have to claw her. But I digress....

This is the toy I picked out. Its a 'Wiggly Giggly'.

Efurryone wants my Wiggly Giggly...Jack wanted it:

and Dad wants it! just watch him in action - I finally decided he'd had it long enough and took it away from him. He'll have to earn more Wiggly Giggly time. (I'm using NILIF with my humans)

I also picked out a HUGE bag of my favorite treats - Yummi chummies! Not one of those whimpy little foil packs, this one weighs a couple pounds! There's even enough to share with Jack. Mom shared her steak with me for dinner (yum), and we had Frosty Paws for dessert.

Jack, waiting to take his Frosty Paws outside.

All in all, a splendid birthday celebration. Today, I'm just going to nap in honor of my friend Huffle to celebrate Australia Day.

Wooos,
Star

Happy Birthday!

The big day is here! We had fun making woo all guess what the big day is and for whom,
so, without furthur a-do....

HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR
DEAR STAR GIRL,
you'll always be our little raccoon puppy :)

It really makes an impact to see how Star's boys have grown along with her, doesn't it? She's been with us since she was 5 weeks old. We were there when she saw the world outside for the first time! She instantly ventured away from her littermates to come check us out,
and she's been at our side ever since. We are so happy she picked us
to be her furever family.

Love & tummy skritches,
HuMom & Dad

When's the pawty, Star? I mean, Happy Birthday, sis ! I'll give woo all a full report on the pawty & gifts & all that good stuff later -
A-roos,
Jack

More snow Monday

Wooos everyone, we had more snow Sunday night & Monday morning - in fact, bipeds here are saying Newport NEVER gets this much snow (don't laugh, you humans living in REAL snow-country).
Mom took this through a screen (hence the grid pattern) looking out towards the bay.

Our walking path runs at the bottom of the hill, by where you can see a telephone pole.  What a treat today - we got to be the first ones on it, romping through the fresh snow!   Jack kept leaping wildly in the air, attempting to fulfill his genetic legacy as a sled dog.   He pulled hard, trudged forward through the drifts.... I have to admit, he looked impressive.  I, being a smart alpha, simply walked behind in his pawpints, keeping my feety-feets from getting too snowy & cold.

See how tired we were?

Jack took his toys outside & enjoyed de-roping his jaws of steel toy.

Just to show you why he needs it, here he was last week, working on a hoofie - check out those chompers!

Hope you all either had snow or at least dreamed about snow!

Wooos,
Star

Getting Squirrelly

We've been housebound for almost a week now, taking care of humom & her stupid cold. We've been furry patient, but we're starting to get squirrelly.

Here Jack, I'll let woo play with my sqweeky sqwirrel...

Uh oh... I don't know about this. Star's probably plotting something. She can be so devious....

***Harrrrrrr, grrrrrr....changed my mind. Back away from MY sqwirrell you fool!!!

Never trust a husky whose been cooped up indoors all week.

Hee hee hee, he makes it sooooo easy!

Pee Ess- It's starting to snow! Woo-peee!

Flat snow?

Sat. 8 pm: Looks promising for a good snow, Jack.

Sat. 11:30 pm: It's slowed down, Jack, keep your paws crossed.

Sun. 4:30 am: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
(mom gets up with a killer sore throat)

Sun. 11:30 am, (mom finally gets up, still has sore throat- breakfast is w-a-y-y-y- late!)
"Is this it? It's all flat and slushy underneath. No fluffy stuff?"

Flat, not fluffy.

Shhhhhh, I'm snowzing...

Our last storm blew snow into big drifts, which is good cause they stick around longer. Mom snuck up & caught me making the most of the snow a few days ago. She even coined a new term for this popular Siberian pastime:
here I am
snowzing in my favorite spot!

A sibe should always put snow to good use, especially before it all melts away.

Todays news: Storm Warning for our area

According to the weather-predicting humans (and we all know how accurate they are) we are supposed to get up to 5" of snow this evening. As woo can see, our snow is almost gone & we're ready for more!

What did woo say? Is there something out of place? Where?

Woos, check this out! Hmm, its A. Shovel, and its new in town. A. Shovel came to replace the one that broke during our last storm. The label says its for "Arctic Blizzards"- a-roos! I hope that's what we get tonight!

Star settled herself on the couch to wait for the snow. I think Penguin & I will join her.

A-roos to yous,
Jack a-roo
