Happy New Year!

Seems like just yesterday we were walking on the beach....
...and the wind was blowing...
...blowing pretty stiff - gusts to 50 mph...
...and look what the wind blew in!
Life's too short not to enjoy the weather, whatever it is!

From our pack to yours,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Sqwirrelz & Snooterz

Sqwirrelz beware: Let this be a warning to woo:
Do try this at home!

Mom's so happy, she's been trying to get a video of the unique way Jack sqweeks his stuffies. He's such a puppyhead dork.

It's a great Tuesday morning, the winds are over 35 mph - wheeeeee!!!!!!

Woos & a-roos to yous!

Even though all the snow melted, I made sure mom woke up to a White Christmas after all. (Remember that couch cushion incident?) She laughed and said what a thoughtful Siberian I am.

After some yummy turkey dinner, we had to go nap so Santa Paws would come by.
Here I am waiting patiently...

and waiting...

and waiting!

A-roos! We were finally able to come get our pressies!
Star got a cool stuffed evil sqwirrell that sqweeks!

and see what Dad got? Mom framed one of her photos so he can look at Star all day at work. (I hear I'm next.)

I got another new pengie! Will woo please open the door? We want to play in the "snow"!

We both got some new nylabone stuff. We ate the edible ones right away, and still have ones to chew on that don't seem to be edible, so we, er, I can chew chew chew!

The next day we went for a furry long drive in the car and visited mom's family. They live way out in the woods, across the road from a game preserve. The smells were furry interesting! There had been a flock of turkeys walking around the yard just before we arrived. They smelled kinda like what mom cooked for dinner on Christmas.

And there were lots of rabbit tracks & deer tracks, too. Humom's nephew showed us something furry cool. He used to trap, and let us check out a beaver pelt he's tanning. I wonder what the whole critter looks like? It sure has nice fur!

It was a furry long drive back home, a good time to take a nap and dream of turkeys...

Our "Night Before Christmas" Story

T’was the night before Christmas when all thru the house,
not a creature was stirring, neither mom nor her spouse,
The ornaments were hung on the tree with great care,
in hopes that dear Santa Paws soon would be there.
The sibes were both nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of squirrel-bums danced in their heads.

And humom in her sleepy pants, and dad in his skeevies,
had just come downstairs to watch some TV,
when out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
Dad sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.
Away to the windows he flew like a flash,
peeked thru the curtains & fell on his a**.

The moon on the yard where we did not have snow
gave no luster of midday to objects below.
When what to his wondering eyes should appear?
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer,
with a red-suited man in a sleigh on a rig,
he thought for a moment it must be a trick.
More rapid than chipmonks, the children, they came,
music blared from speakers, calling his name:
Christmas is coming, make way for the Claus,
he’s visiting kids of Navy ma’s & pa’s!*

The kids gathered round, and they begged him to tell
what presents they’d get, if all goes quite well.
Did their parents know everything? All that they did?
Would they put them in jail? Or make them eat squid?
So Santa confessed, he himself hardly knew
if t’was good stuff or bad, the things that they do.
Then after some minutes of Ho-ho-ho-ho,
the kids waved good-bye and on he did go.

He winked at the driver, to his team gave a whistle,
and away they all drove like a slow guided missle.
But I heard him exclaim, as they drove round the bend,
“Merry Christmas to all
Good Dogs, & Hu-mans!"

We wish each of woo a furry Merry Christmas!

Star & Jack

*Thanks to our community activities group for arranging this delightful "visit from Santa" through the Navy family neighborhoods for the kids of active military.  With grateful hearts, we say "thank you" to all our military for their service, & "God Bless us, every one!"

Uh-oh...

A-roos to yous!
Mom took this from inside the house, (where it's warm) and there was a little snow on the window, so its a bit blurry, but woo can see how much I've been enjoying the snow.

But I think I may have done something mom's not too happy about....

She caught me in the act, so I can't blame it on the evil sqwirrels (even though they DID destuff my stuffies!) It was an accident, I was only trying to rearrange the cushions! I can't help it if the wind blew the stuffing all over the yard! I hope this doesn't put me on the naughty list, so close to Christmas.

Mom's being weird & hiding all kinds of good stuff in boxes and paper and bows. I'm furry interested in this little husky guy, but mom keeps saying "No, it's not for woo, woo can't have that one." Do woo think it's cause I did something wrong?

We had a furry special visitor in the neighborhood the other day, but, shhh, I can't tell woo anymore just yet!

A-roos,
Jack "the good boy" a-roo

Solstice Sunday Salute

Each year on the Summer and Winter Solstice, there is a Siberian Husky Memorial to celebrate the lives of those who have earned their silver harness and now run free North of the Rainbow Bridge.  The list includes both beloved companions and nameless rescue dogs, who may never have had a family of their own. If you'd like to participate in honoring their memories, at 8 pm your local time, light a candle, turn towards the North, and wish the 240 siberians on the list (plus any others you wish to honor) Godspeed and a swift trail.

We will be wooing towards the north for our Sherman (he's on the list), dear Kelsey Ann (she's on the list too), and our two siberian friends who recently crossed the Bridge, Anna and Gracie.

If woo have a dear departed sibe, please post their name in a reply & we'll keep them in our hearts, too.    Remember to  light a candle at 8PM tonight!

Wooos & a-rooos,
Star & Jack a-roo

*edit*
We just came across the sad dedication for this little sweetheart, Kiki. We know a Kiki, so it caught our eye. Now mom's eyes are brimming over with tears for this little one. We mourn for her tonight.

Born: December 2007
Died: April 14, 2008
City: Windsor
State: ON
Country: Canada
KiKi was the beautiful, 4 month old Siberian Husky puppy who was beaten by her owner in Windsor, Ontario. The Humane Society put her down April 14, 2008 due to the severity of her injuries. We should not forget her, or others like her who die never knowing a loving home. She is in the most loving arms of all now, North of the Rainbow Bridge.

2:15 pm "Hey, I think I feel some snowflakes!"

2:30 pm "I definitly feel some snowflakes!"

3:00 pm "Hey, has anybody noticed? It's SNOWING!!!"

4 pm snowy walkies: Dad with us...

Mom with us....

We are loving this snow!!

7 pm-ish Check out my snow nose & spooky eyes!

All that snow-dancing, crossing paws, & having our friends send it our way paid off BIG TIME!! We've got LOTS of snow!!!! It's too dark now for mom to get shots of me zooming around the yard & snootering through the snow, but we have so much of it, I'm sure there'll be plenty to play in tomorrow too!

woos & a-roos, thanks to yous!

Waiting....snow warning

Woos & a-roos!
It's been a whole week since mom let us post. She's been a real bah-humbug this week, we think all the sqwirrels running around here are getting to her. We've been herding them in from all over to fill orders from Jack's highly successful infommercial last week.

Anyways, we're pretty excited cause there is a WEATHER ADVISORY calling for 8-12 inches of snow to fall here starting Friday afternoon.    I know, I know, we shouldn't get too excited, knowing the accuracy rate among human weather predictors, but we have all paws crossed.   Lots of pups have been getting snow lately, so why not us too?

In the meanwhile, we are drinking lots of water to stay hydrated and napping a lot to encourage maximum fluff growth in preparation for the storm.   We'll keep woo posted!

Snow?

Those weather bipeds said we were going to get SNOW on Sunday. Well, we did, but this is not quite the quantity that we had in mind...

It was a good start, it was fun while it lasted (at least we got our paws & snooters snowy), but it's all gone today.

"There's just gotta be more where that came from, keep snow-dancing, Jack, keep snow-dancing!"

Squirrely evilness

It WAS the squirrels.
I'm just sayin'.

Mom got me an anti-squirrel-destruto red ball for chewing on. She's still not entirely sold on the "squirrels did it" theory, but I'll take a new toy any day. Plus, she smeared it with crunchy peanut butter!

And I think I'll have this yummy lobster "to go."

C'Mon Snow!

In an attempt to draw the snow to us, we asked humom to make a frosty winter theme for our blog. Paws crossed this works! We heard rumors of snow this weekend, but right now its 43°and sunny.

My Amazing Snooter

Ha-roos, everypup! (and honorary husky),
mom noticed the other day that she finally caught some good photos of my amazing snooter! Now most pups have to turn their heads to catch scents from different directions. Not me, I just swivel my snooter towards the direction I want to check out& catch it all without moving my head!

See, I swivel to the right,

then I swivel to the left!

Pretty cool, huh? Mom says she's never seen anything like my Amazing Swivelling Snooter. It's just one more thing that makes me special!

Hey Star, can woo do this?!?!

Oh please, leave my snooter out of this!
