T’was the night before Christmas when all thru the house,
not a creature was stirring, neither mom nor her spouse,
The ornaments were hung on the tree with great care,
in hopes that dear Santa Paws soon would be there.
The sibes were both nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of squirrel-bums danced in their heads.
And humom in her sleepy pants, and dad in his skeevies,
had just come downstairs to watch some TV,
when out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
Dad sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.
Away to the windows he flew like a flash,
peeked thru the curtains & fell on his a**.
The moon on the yard where we did not have snow
gave no luster of midday to objects below.
When what to his wondering eyes should appear?
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer,
with a red-suited man in a sleigh on a rig,
he thought for a moment it must be a trick.
More rapid than chipmonks, the children, they came,
music blared from speakers, calling his name:
Christmas is coming, make way for the Claus,
he’s visiting kids of Navy ma’s & pa’s!*
The kids gathered round, and they begged him to tell
what presents they’d get, if all goes quite well.
Did their parents know everything? All that they did?
Would they put them in jail? Or make them eat squid?
So Santa confessed, he himself hardly knew
if t’was good stuff or bad, the things that they do.
Then after some minutes of Ho-ho-ho-ho,
the kids waved good-bye and on he did go.
He winked at the driver, to his team gave a whistle,
and away they all drove like a slow guided missle.
But I heard him exclaim, as they drove round the bend,
“Merry Christmas to all
Good Dogs, & Hu-mans!"
We wish each of woo a furry Merry Christmas!
Star & Jack *Thanks to our community activities group for arranging this delightful "visit from Santa" through the Navy family neighborhoods for the kids of active military. With grateful hearts, we say "thank you" to all our military for their service, & "God Bless us, every one!"
