Time to trim the tree?

Ha-roos! All week long I've been hearing about how much snow some of my Siberian friends are getting. This is me in my yard this morning. What's missing?

That's right, THERE'S NO S-N-O-W !!! We get a lot of no-show-snow here on the coast. The bipeds say its because of the salty ocean air - it keeps us a little warmer than inland, which means they get snow, we get slushy rain. We also get lots and lots of wind, which means we get lots of ice instead of nice fluffy snow. I don't mean to complain, but a foot or so of fluffy snow here would be nice. Maybe that's what I'll ask Santa for.
~~~~~***~~~~~
Isn't that a fun drawing with me in the header? Thanks again to the girls at Zoolatry. Such talented paws! And in keeping with the "trim a tree" theme, I'll show woo some of my favorite ornaments.
My friend Mikki's mom made us the husky ornament last year - isn't it siberiffic? It was mom's idea to put that stupid squirrel right next to it. She finds it amusing, I don't think it's funny at all.
And here are three furry special ornaments. Its a tiny Sherman, Star, and Rosie!
And here's my most favoritest ornament of all -A. Pengie! Mom says she's had this ornament for many many years, I'm glad she still does!
Mom also told me I am not allowed to destuff the little penguin. She put him up out of my reach, but I'm furry good about not taking things off the tree. How about woo?
My mom's got the right idea... Thanks, mom, I love my new sign! Let's hang it outside, maybe it'll help.
PS - Wed--this morning we barely had a covering of snow.
Then it turned into slush falling from the sky, and now there's rain & wind blowing blowing blowing!!!!!
Poor St. Francis, now he's ankle deep in freezing cold water! I've decided to sleep in for the day.
One last chance....
Pfttttt, stupid squirrel, no fun at all.
Thank You
We're overwhelmed by all your messages of sympathy for Tori, each one means a great deal to us. You understand the bonds of love we have with our fur friends, and how each of us dreads the day we have to say goodbye. Thank you for taking the time to come visit and leave a kind word. I'm sure that Tori's family in Ohio will also read them and find comfort knowing how many hearts Tori touched in her short time here with us.
Heartbroken
The seeds of love grow quickly
when planted in the fertile heart.
So short a time together, too short, and
too full of struggle and heartache,
my little one.
Add your light to the Heavens
and be at peace.
Friday, 12/4 7:30 pm
After beating the odds and surviving surgery for a dangerous perforated bowel, she seemed to be making a slow recovery. But it was not meant to be.
Tori is following in her brother Sherman's paw prints to the Rainbow Bridge. She accepted her path with grace, it just took us a while to catch on. She let us know it was ok to release her, she was going to be alright, and she wasn't afraid. I marvel at her simple acceptance of that which I find so unacceptable.
Godspeed, beautiful Tori.
Wear your silver harness with pride
as you dance in the stars above.
You will always be in our hearts.
Sunday Synopsis
Woos & a-roos to yous!
Did woo have a good Thanksgiving day, (those of us in the USA)?
We had khompnay! Moms boyz drove out from Ohio! (Never under-estimate the power of Mom's home cooking). They left this morning, now we have time to catch up on the blogs.
We got yummy turkey, crunchy carrots, but no pie, although mom mixed some cannned pumpkin into our food.
Turkey makes woo sleepy, I caught a quick snuggle-nap:
It rained all day on turkey-day, but Friday was much nicer. We went to the rocky beach, cause the wind was blowing so hard, we would have been sand-blasted at the sandy beach!
Had to take the guys to our Fort - lots of cannons there!
Sunny, but not a great day fur a peeps picnic- WAY too windy & cold!
Mom was furry happy to have all her kids together - peeps & fluffs! She'll post more pics this week.
So, that's basically what we've been up to - hope woo are making good memories too. Have a furry nice Sunday, effurryone!
a-roos & woos,
jack n' tori
PS - Tori's getting a little better each day, we're keeping up our pawrayers she continues to improve!
PPS- Oh my Dogness! We almost forgot! We got a furry nice surprise text mail from our friend Moon in PA - look!
Geneva Ruby
Welcome Geneva Ruby, Moon's new sisfur!!!! We met "Neve" at the TOTTSHR Hike back in September. She seemed like a perfect fit fur their family. They started the process to adopt her that day, and they were selected to be Neve's furever family this weekend!!!! We're furry happy fur Moon and his peeps!
Progress!
Woo-woo, its me, Tori!
I want to thank you all fur the pawrayers & pawsitive thoughts woo've sent me. It means a lot! I feel better with each day that goes by. I'm still pretty sleepy, not furry hungry, and not moving too fast, but when Mom asked me to smile for efurryone, I could do that! I saw my vet on Saturday and he says everything looks good so far.
Jack has been a good big brofur, but he's kind of bummed he doesn't get home-cooked meals like I get. (Don't worry, mom lets him have what I don't finish.)
On Sunday, I got to meet some of Jack's friends. Moon's people came to visit and say hello to me! Moon had to stay home with his dog nanny, but I met his mini-bipeds and they sure are loud... but also furry sweet. Jack had a blast doing zoomies and playing catch with them, I just watched from the doorway.
woos & kisses,
Tori
PS- Some of woo know my home kennel-sisters Abbie & Bling also had some health problems this weekend, but I hear they've doing much better. Lets hope us Destiny girls all heal up 100% furry furry soon!
There's no place like home...
This picture's worth a thousand words!
Welcome home, Tori!
Last night Tori finally met the conditions of returning home ( drink, pee, eat & keep down the food), and home she came! I was so furry excited to see her, mom & dad held onto my collar cause I was bouncing all around and they didn't want Miss Tori to be jostled. She just growled at me. (OK, OK, I get it!)
Mom slept on the couch near her crate all night, just in case Tori needed attention, but it was a quiet night. We're saying pawrayers of thanks, and for a full recovery. It's a miracle she's even here, after what she went through. SomeOne is surely watching over her!
I'm standing guard to make sure none of those evil squirrels gets in and harms my Tori. That's what a good brother does!
with grateful a-roos to yous,
Jack a-roo, Tori, Mom & Dad
Thankful for Tori Thursday
Whew, the last 24 hrs. have been a whirlwind around here. Around midnight on Tuesday, poor Tori started SCREAMING. It was horrible. Mom & dad rushed her to the Emergency Vets, and to make a long story short(er), by 3:15 Tori was being prepped for surgery to remove a bowel blockage that turned out to be scar tissue, and untwist a potentially fatal twisted artery.
She made it through, even though she stopped breathing for several minutes during the surgery. We think angels Star and brother Sherman must be watching over her.
Please send a prayer her way, the next 12-18 hours are critical in her recovery. Provided she continues to be stable, she may even be able to come home furry soon. That would be good, cause I miss her.
My peeps are pretty stressed out at the moment too. But Mom says she's in God's hands, and God Bless the doctor for saving her life. (Her vet doesn't think she would have made it till 8 am.) We're furry thankful she's still here.
Mom even got to visit her tonight:
We have paws crossed we will have another pawsitive update later today.
Please keep Tehya, Earle, and Dusty in your thoughts, they're all having vet-issues too. Meeshka has commanded that no more fluffies can get sick this week. We second that thought!
holding down the fort,
Jack a-roo
A note fom Jack's mom:
I'm typing through tears, this was way too close for comfort. Tori is such a sweet girl, we're praying she gets thru this, she so deserves to. We know a lot of people are sending prayers & positive thoughts, thank you.
Sad Woos on Tuesday
We send soft sad woos to our friend Dakota and her family. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night. She was deeply loved, and will forever be missed. It was furry kind of her family to give her a loving farewell, and free her from suffering. We know Star will be there to greet her.
Please drop by and let her peeps know woo are thinking of them.
Godspeed, sweet girl, be at peace till your people come for you again one day. Till then, be our angels, Dakota Moon Twenty, Blue Moon Star, and Princess Dakota. You all had to leave way too soon.
sad a-roos + sad woos,
What a way to start my week...
It's been an exhausting morning...
Mom fixed my Pengie on Saturday - new stuffing, all stitched back together again .
I love my Pengie! I took him everywhere with me on Sunday. We even napped together.
This morning, mom let us out, and back in. She went back to bed.
When dad came downstairs, look at what happened!!!
Squirrels must have slipped in the door past her this morning. Its her fault -- she wasn't awake. If she'd stopped the squirrels, this never would have happened...
sad a-roos,
jack a-roo, penguinless again
Sunday: Practicing
I'm practicing looking "too cute."
Is that even possible?
Friday Foto Follow-up
Tori's story was furry interesting yesterday, wasn't it? The lady talking to us in that one pic is from Illinois, and was on a tour of New England's lighthouses (she had been to 37 of them so far! )
We decided to follow up with a few pics mom has taken of our local lighthouses.
This is what the Castlehill Light looks like from the Bay - mom took this when she was sailing with her friends.
And this is Goat Island Lighthouse. It's quite small, but it used to be the only light in the Newport Harbor.
This beauty is the Rose Island Lighthouse. There's a museum inside, and its a bed-&-breakfast. Woo can also stay on for a few days as the "lighthouse keeper", if woo are willing to work! There's some cool things on the island.
Our bipeds took a boat to Rose Island, and mom found a rather obscure lighthouse -- Rose Fido's Lighthouse! Ha-roo roo roo!
This is Beavertail Lighthouse, on the tip of Conanicut Island.
(It's just across the bridge from our island)
These lighthouses are furry popular subject matter for the local artists - our mom included. Here's a few of the paintings she has done that highlight our local lights!
And so, we take our leave, as the sun sets over the bay beyond Castlehill Light,
See woo later, alligator!
Tell Us A Story, Tori
Ha-woo everyone.
I'm Tori, Jack's new sis. My AKC name is "Destiny's Tell Me a Story", and that's what I'm going to do today for my first ever blog.
Once upon a time, it was a beawootiful day , and the Prince and Princess of A-roos were taken to a secret place where they could enjoy the ocean breezes.
The Prince & Princess of A-roos sat with their Guardian to greet passers-by while their nanny ran all around, using her flashy box to take pictures of everything.
Bipeds from around the country came to admire the handsome Prince and the beawootiful Princess. Some were struck speechless when they saw the Royals.
Are woo wondering where this beautiful place is? Here comes a surprising twist in the story - the location! Look at what the scene is like in front of the chairs.........
A castle! How cool is that? I'd never seen one of these before, we didn't have them in Ohio. I told Jack it must be a castle. In fact, I was right - its called "Castlehill Light!"
The royal Nanny walked over by the stairs woo can see on the left and looked down.... and down, and down, and down... she said its a l-o-n-g ways down.
Then she left the Prince & Princess and walked way around and down the rocks. Here's the view from there:
The Nanny returned and took the Prince down the rocks to the far side of the Castle. Ha-roo roo, then they had to climb back up! Look how well the sure-footed Prince scales the steep cliffs!"
...so the Prince & Princess of A-roos had a furry nice time on their outing. They were escorted home in their personal Siberian Outback, and took nice long naps.
We hope woo enjoyed our little tour around Castlehill Lighthouse. The end."
Kisses,
Tell Me A Story Tori
