Sachuest Scenes

Sunday scenes from Sachuest:

Sign to secure the safety of the birds, or, "Why the whole end of the beach is fenced off"?  (click to make pics big enough to read, it's interesting)

Hmm, what do you think, Jack?  It'll be roped off till the birds finish nesting & get those kids flapping their wings  so they can blow out of here.

Jack decided to mark the rock on the DOGS ALLOWED side of the sign, just to make sure those birds know where their territory ends.

Good thinking, Jack!

We'll be posting pictures of serene scenery from the  Sachuest shore all this week...

She's back, Jack!

Wooooooo-oooooo!!!
Mama came home!!

Mom left us last week and went to O-Hi-O to see her skin kids & a bunch of furiends of hers.   We've been keeping an eye on dad all week long.  He's been caring for us in the style to which we are accustomed, keeping up with all our demands.   He even took a couple days off work, just to stay home with us!  He' s done an A+ job.  But mom came home tonight & we're so0-woo excited, woooo woooo!  We gave her lot of woos &a-roos, kissies and husky hugs, and we shed on her because we sensed a distinct lack of fur on her clothes.   She was so happy!

So no post tonight except that she did want to say
"Happy Birthday Jack!"

Our fluffy puppyhead boy is 4 years old today.

Pictures, frosty paws, & khake tomorrow!

Welcome Spring!

Spring....
Mom went looking for signs of spring around the house.  She saw robins, and the garden around St. Francis is sprouting daffodils and tulips.

Mom walked through the house and looked for more signs of spring. Tufts of fur, EVERYWHERE! We deny knowing anything about that.

In the yard, more signs of spring.
NO flowers grass or trees...
but plenty of mud and toys that need killing.
I call this move spring fling!

HAPPY SPRING!

Farewell to winter

Frozen in frames,
a moment, a day, an event,
memories preserved as
Winter passes.
Snow melts into spring mud.
White ground turns brown,
and drab gray-green
shows spikes of tender green.
One last winter post recalls
the beauty and wonder
of snow,
as we prepare to bid
Spring "hello".

An Old Irish Siberian Blessing

An Old Irish Siberian  Blessing

May the snow rise up to meet woo.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your belly,
and snowflakes fall softly on your snooter.
And until we meet again,
May efurryone woo meet hold a treat for woo in the palm of their hand.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

"Just ask Jack"

On Wed., mom posted me in one of my favorite sleepy spots, the stair landing. My dear furiend, Ammy, of the Ao4, asked me about how I do that.

Well Ammy, I'm glad woo asked. Here's a little tutorial on how I use the walls and landing for my meditation practice. There's a bit of yoga involved....

Notice how this first position is a little like a "down-dog" done sideways... this gives my back a really good stretch and gets me me all lined up... (Dad says it looks like I'm flying)

Then-

Notice how my back feety-feets can now use the adjacent wall for leverage from this new position - not a spec of wasted movement! And oh, so relaxing. Don't worry, the humans will adjust and do some yoga of their own to step around woo without falling down the stairs, ha-roo roo!

If there's no handy stair landing, just adapt to whatever is around - here I am, demonstrating using the bottom stair and china cabinet in place of right-angled walls. This position has the added bonus of a paw rest, too!

I just love doing yoga around the house... have to keep in shape, ya know!

I hoped this helps, try it in your house today!

A-roos to yous,
Jack a-roo

Back to back

A little poem for spring...

Catching rays on winter-spring days,
back to back with Jack.

Won't be long till winter's gone,
winter - spring, back to back.

And...

***Happy 23rd Birthday to my boy today,
March 12!***
I'm so proud of my pup!
Love, Star

Hit the beach

On Sunday, it was a sunny 61 F outside. Mom said "Let's go to the beach!" OK!

Dad likes to sneak up on Jack's tail, it's a game they play.
I think that's pretty funny, just don't try it on me!

The beach can still be cold & windy this time of year.  That's fine for us, but mom's still bundles up in her winter jacket.

It was low tide, we walked farther down the beach than anyone else! We usually can't walk this far because they rope it off during to nesting season so no one disturbs the birds on the beach. The ridge up ahead is a nature preserve, we're not allowed up there either for some reason.

There were tons of other dogs on the beach, too. Most of them didn't have to wear the leash of oppression like us, its so unfair. Sometimes it's hard being a husky. (But it is fun!)
