RIP, sweet Bowser boy.

God speed you on your way to the Rainbow Bridge, dear Bowser
We are sad to hear that our little pal, Bowser, has departed for the RB. He was quite elderly and his health had been failing, but he will forever be missed by his friends. He was a husky - ?? mix, with the fluffiest tail you've ever seen. We will miss him at our PetTalk get-together this Sunday, although we're sure he'll be looking down on the rest of us. Maybe he'll be munching a tube-steak in the sky, he was THE Champion Hot-dog Eater at our Husky Hike two years ago!

Woooooooos, Bowser. You're back on four good paws again.

*sniff* love, Star & Sherman

(Holly, we're gonna let our post today be dedicated to our dear friend, but we haven't forgotten you tagged us! Hu-mom's working on it)

Sweep me off my paws

Last Sunday was a special "Hu-Mom's day", and our hu-mom's two hu-pups came to visit. Now I don't usually allow humans to do embarrasing things to me, but this one is the hu-pup that I picked out when I was 5 weeks old to go home with. I'll admit, I let him get away with murder. See what I mean?

I was his birthday surprise when he turned 11..and boy, was his family surprised when they got up the morning of his party and I promptly ate a red balloon that happened to be on the floor! Chaos, right off the bat! And he still has that little scar on his nose from when I had to "correct" him way back then, which he still mentions every time I see him, but at least I know he'll never forget me!

You woke me up because.....?

Ever been sound asleep having a great dream, only to be rudely awakewned for no reason? Ha, humans.

Well, since I'm awake now, here is a picture of Sherman, obviously still asleep. Dreaming blissfully... He doesn't know how close he came to having dental work done. I had to go and have a molar pulled a few weeks ago. Doggone it, I was soooo tired after that. I think they drugged me. They clipped my nails & cut my furry-toe fur off, too. Yup, they must have druggged me, I'd never stand for that. Sherman was only days away when our hu-mom's Subaru Siberian Outback made funny noises. Bottom line - the doggy dental funds became the fix-it-now car repair funds... Phew, lucky Sherman.

There is really nothing interesting going on, here's a cute little morsel, I mean, critter, that hu-mom found on the internet somewhere. Enjoy. (Isn't it tasty-looking?)

Woos,
Star

MOOOOO. Make that "MEGA MOOO" Whoa, look at this dude-now that's a winter coat. Mom says this guy & his buddy live close by the place we're moving to. I sure hope those measely fences keep them in, cause they wouldn't hold a husky back for more than 30 seconds. Sherman and I will have to practice our zoomies & scootching technique in case we have to get away quick if these burly floor mops ever do get out & come visiting.

Wooos,
Star

*edit* Hu-mom found out that these bad boys are Scottish Highland cattle. Apparently they are kind of rare. : ) I'd like mine very rare, thank you (hee hee hee)

WHAT'S IN YOUR FOODBOWL?

Well this whole pet food thing has really boiled over. Seems like almost every cat & dog we know has been affected. Our GSD friend Delila almost died about a month ago, before the media announced ithe tainted food. She was eating some of this stuff! The vet said he thought it might be something in her diet, and thankfully she has recovered, but they came awfully close to putting her down because they had no idea what was causing all the bleeding & stuff.

We've been switched over to Canidae, which is yummy and free of corn, wheat, gluten, and has brown rice grown in the USA. Hu-mom siad it was very pricey, but WE'RE WORTH IT! To be honest, our change of food really had nothing to do with the grain scare, but the grain thing tipped the scales in favor of changing now. Plus, we LOVED the samples of the stuff we got at last year's Adopt-a-Husky Hike!

If your human is looking for a grain-0free food, check it out at www.canidae.com. (courtesy endorsement, we just want eveydog to be healthy.

What...only one day of spring?

We got to go to the dog park on the ONLY spring-like day we've had for three weeks. Many of our friends were there, and Hu-mom was in a picture-snapping mood. On arrival, everyone is required to sign their pee-mail name on the community post. See everyone lining up behind Sherman? The tree-walking hound is Bella. She's a lot of fun, but she's terrified of me. That makes chasing her down all the more fun!

Next: Sherms and Gretchen. Poor dog, they only gave her half-legs with that full body. She makes a good effort at keeping up, though.

Hee's a pic of our favorite pals, Brutus. He's ALL legs. Never seen a dog that could run so fast in my life!

Marty the schnauzer wanted me to roll him on the ground, really! (Hee hee hee)

A small group shot of us planning our next move...

Once Issac the boxer got there, we all ran zoomies. He really gets things going!

So much for spring. It's snowing out now. Which is fine with us huskies, but we get to missing our friends. They don't go to the dogpark in the snow, short-coated whimps. It is good to be a huskie.

Woos,
Star

Got "Easter bunnies"?

Just popping in to say
Happy Easter everyone!
Maybe mom will let us out to run around...I can taste those delicious Easter bunnies now! No, I didn't mean the chocolate kind.

Hi there, Sherman here. Nothing much is new, just sort of waiting for either winter to return or spring to show up, the weather can't seem to make its mind up. Next week will be special because Star has to go have a bunch of teeth pulled & a bumpy thing on her paw taken off. Maybe while she's gone & all doped up I can clean the crumbs off her bed. She eats so s-l-o-w-l-y, I just know she lets crumbs get away. Not me, by golly, I get every last crumb I can find! I heard Hu-mom say that she will have to skip treats the night before, I wonder if that means I get doubles? I can always hope...
We did get a nice trip to the dogpark. Here is Star, getting a butt rub from the nice owner of a basset hound. He probably was impressed he didn't have to bend down to pet a dog, hee hee hee.

Hu-mom says this is where we're heading in a couple months. A-squids-neck Island, or something like that. I don't think we're going to like being surrounded by water...I hate water, unless it's frozen solid. I also don't like going over bridges, so I guess I'll turn into an "island-bound" husky. Hu-moms trying to teach Sherman some leash-manners. We'll be walking on leashes like when I used to live in the city. Sherman's a bit of a country bumpkin, he's never walked around in the city before. Mom says he pulls awfully hard. Duh, did she notice he's a husky? Well, fed him treats, he'll follow you anywhere! Here's his treat-face.

SNOW! At last, the white stuff has falled from heaven, creating heaven on earth for us huskies! 10 inches...a good start. Time to play!

Sherman is "Puttin' on the Ritz" for his two special Valentine friends today! My but he's dashing!
Remember, if you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with!

Yeah-- We've been officially accepted into the ranks of the HULA Hoop. This is quite an honor, and we will patiently await the day we take over the world with the rest of the HULA Hoop Huskies. We extend our gratitude and alligence to our Pack Leader, the brains & fluff behind HULA, Meeshka.

This is Sherman's "guilty" face. He went on a non-food eating binge this past week. I know it was boring with Hu-mom gone for a few days, but he should have better sense, IMHO. He ate our plastic food scoop -well, most of it anyways. Then he ate the check Hu-mom left for the dog-sitter. I say, way to go , Sherman! The dog sitter was not so amused. Hey, look at it this way, at least Hu-mom didn't leave cash! That would have been an ugly recovery process. As it is, we have been watching the daily defacation dissections with great interest. Hu-mom makes some great faces as she pokes & smooshes through everything. Shes been feeding him a lot of fiber, so there's even more than usual to go through! One of the other huskies at the kennel where he came from ate a bunch of expensive jewelry one time. He was a Champion husky, and he lived to be 17, so it can't have hurt him much. Makes me wonder what all the fuss is about.

I celebrated my 10th birthday a couple days ago - I got lots of tasty salmon on top of my food, some really yummy treats...and a new squeeky-duck! I love it, it honks when I bite down, almost like the real thing! I don't look too thrilled in this photo because Hu-mom woke me up from a nice nap to take a picture, can you imagine?
We finally have some snow, so our dog park trips have been heavenly...single digit temperatures, no other dogs anywhere in sight (whimps!), the whole place to Sherman and myself. I got delerious the other day and LEAPED over Sherman after charging him and running zoomies around him, Yup, this ol' girl's still got it!

1/13/2007

Hee hee hee! Our human did a goofy thing. An old guy friend (he's like 82) said that after meeting us at Thanksgiving, he had a dream he was mushing along with a team of huskies. So our hu-mom saat at the computer thingy for a long time playing with photos and laughed to herself alot. Then she sent this to our friend. She hopes he likes it! We do.

1/06/2007

Still no snow....but it rained & rained & rained & rained. The yard is flooded. The kennel is flooded. The road to the dog park is flooded out. Guess we'll just sleep. Sherman, your butt makes a nice soft pillow."

A New Year...maybe this will be the year our human figures out this blogger business so we can meet more huskies and other interesting folk here in cyber-space. So far, this winter has been a total bust. NO SNOW. None, nada, zip. This just ain't right. So we have adapted by learning to become couch-potatoes. Not a bad life, but it does get boring. So I'm playing with my squeekies and Sherman is snoring. Maybe it's time to do a snow-dance to hasten the white stuff. Wooooo-woooooo... wooooo-woo-woooooo! Stomp those paws!

8/11/2006

Wooo-woooo! Got tasty new treats, the weather finally cooled off, and I've almost got a new hole chewed in my blue mail-box squeeky! "The maid" keeps sewing my toys up, just about the time I'm ready to extract the noisey part. She said we got a letter today about this year's "Husky Hike". We helped raise money for homeless huskies by taking a very nice walk through the woods last year. Can't beat that! Plus, there's games and FOOD, and an auction with all kinds of husky stuff. Last year, I won the musical hoops game and brought home a real prize -- a pink and red squeeky stuffie! I still have it, bout of course it's been stitched up a time or two over the last year. Have to see if we can find the pictures... later. * Star *

August 5th.
It's been hot, way too hot for dogs with double coats who love snow. But, being good huskies, we've been bearing with it. The humans went to a State fair yesterday, mom showed us pictures of sheep- stark naked sheep! I thought they were supposed to be fluffy, like huskies, but there they were, in nothing but skin. Well, a few had on these little "jammies", looked pretty silly if you ask me. All I can say is that I'm glad WE don't get shaved for our beautiful fur! I'd hate to be seen naked in public! Sheesh!

Just a quick CONGRATULATIONS to MEESHKA on her highly successful blogathon!
