There is a new Star in the heavens tonight

Blue Moon Star
January 25, 1997 - Sept. 24, 2009

This afternoon, our beautiful Star became
a new star shining in the heavens.

After a long summer of declining health, she is surely doing full-speed zoomies in the fields across the Rainbow Bridge. I can imagine her happiness as she is forever reuinited with her beloved Sherman. And her first canine sibling, Rosie, is without any doubt, doing her "hula dance", feathers flying, butt wiggling to & fro, ecstatic at Star's arrival. There 's gonna be a pawty tonight.

Jack & I are still planning to hike, and we are dedicating our participation to her memory. God bless the rescues, they do such good work. Every dog deserves the kind of life she had. She was with us since she was 5 weeks old, and has never known hunger, harsh treatment, or abandonment. She was deeply loved and cherished her entire life. And she richly blessed ours.

I'll be away from the computer most of Friday - Sunday, but I promise we will read every word when we get back. I have a Memorial post in the works, I just can't deal with that right now. Please know that we feel at peace with her passing, and that peace is the best affirmation that the time was right.

Thank you, all of you, for being part of Star's & our extended family.
Thank you for loving our girl.

Pat, JoJoe, and Jack

  20. We were so sorry to hear the news. We know how hard it was to find the strength to ease Star's journey. We know that Star is running with Sherman in the fresh snow north of the Rainbow Bridge.

We've lit a candle in her honor and are going out to look for Star's star. We're sure that we'll see Sherman's star right next to hers.

  21. I am very sad that Star has left us, but I will always remember the wonderful times that we had with her around. She really was a part of the family and I can't tell you how happy I was back in 1997 when I found out we would be getting a dog.

Thank you for caring for her so much - I don't think she could have had it any better.

    Best wishes,

  58. What a time for us to get behind on our blogs and messages.

We are so very sorry to hear about the loss of beautiful Star, but we were admiring the beautiful bright stars in the sky just last night (in a rare break in the clouds). We are sure that the brightest one we saw was Star waving at us even though we did not know the news.

And thanks for continuing to walk today on behalf of all of those in rescue. Except for Natasha, we each got to The Herd thanks to the dedicated volunteers who arranged to spring us from our old situations.
